This short documentary, which is about Syrians who worked as shoe-upper workers
offers small narratives about the daily lives of refugees, their dreams, and
their experiences of being refugees. The documentary is about those who worked
and still work at the Shoemakers Site in Izmir; It aims to take an "inside look"
at the life of a young workshop owner, a child worker, an unemployed single
woman, and another refugee worker who cannot work due to asthma.
Refugees who are shoe workers in the documentary work informally. For this
reason, it was preferred that their faces not be seen in the shootings so that
their identities would not be revealed. Contrary to the system, which sees these
people who had to immigrate due to the war as only "refugees" and "Syrians", it
was a conscious choice to focus on their stories rather than their faces. They
are all refugees but people with many identities and hopes.
